This in-home water treatment system, with a patented carbon-block filter and UV light, reduces potential health-effect impurities and destroys microorganisms. This unit comes with the Designer Polished Chrome Auxiliary Faucet Kit.

Description

The eSpring UV Water Purifier improves the taste, odor, and clarity of up to 1,320 gallons of water – enough for a family of six to drink and cook with for one year. Independent third-party testing has shown that the carbon-block filter effectively reduces more than 140 potential health-effect impurities – like pesticides, VOCs, mercury, and lead – yet allows beneficial minerals like calcium and magnesium to pass through. The UV bulb destroys up to 99.9999% of bacteria, 99.99% of viruses, and 99.95% of cysts in drinking water without the use of chemicals.

The eSpring Water Purifier is certified by NSF International (NSF/ANSI Standards 42, 53, 55B, and 401) and has earned the Gold Seal from the Water Quality Association.

This unit comes with a Designer Polished Chrome Faucet Kit that can be installed in an auxiliary opening in your sink, such as one for a soap dispenser or sprayer.
  • The Tomlinson® polished chrome faucet features a one-handle, classic design with elegant curves.
  • Designed to complement classic, traditional kitchens and wet bars.
  • Arching spout creates added clearance of 12 inches.

Trademark: Tomlinson (The Meyer Company, Cleveland, Ohio).

Benefits

  • Improves taste, odor, and clarity.
  • NEW! eSpring effectively reduces pharmaceuticals atenolol and ethinyl estradiol (17-alpha-ethinyl estradiol).
  • The filter cartridge is designed to serve the average cooking and drinking water needs for a family of six for one year or 1,320 gallons, whichever comes first.
  • Cost-effective: The cost per gallon in the second year is 16 cents.
  • Patented monitoring system lets you know the carbon filter and UV bulb are working, and when it's time for the annual cartridge change.
  • Changing the cartridge is simple and requires no special tools.
  • The UV bulb inside the cartridge switches on only when you turn on the tap, so water flows cold, not warmed by the UV light.
  • Comes with a three-year warranty. And a refund will be issued within 120 days of your purchase if you're not completely and utterly satisfied.

Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know if my eSpring UV Water Purifier is properly installed?
If you followed each step of the instructions in the manual included with your eSpring Water Purifier and you have used the faucet described in the manual or the single-line faucet kit with pressure regulator, it should be properly installed.

Can I connect my Below Counter eSpring UV Water Purifier (11-8384/11-8384C) to my refrigerator’s ice maker?
Yes. This kit includes a pressure regulator and all the fittings you’ll need to connect your eSpring UV Water Purifier to your refrigerator's ice maker, except for pressurized ¼-inch (6 mm) OD tubing, available from almost any local plumbing supply or hardware store. Be sure that the tubing you use is certified for use in drinking water applications. To maintain your warranty, all components must be installed properly, carefully following the instructions shipped with the kit.

Can I still continue to use the unit without changing the filter when I’m supposed to?
It is not recommended. The filter life is determined based on performance testing. Failure to maintain the unit as recommended may impair the performance.

Can water damage the UV bulb?
No, the UV bulb is completely sealed in a quartz sleeve within the carbon block and is not directly in contact with the water. It uses a wireless (inductive coupled) connection to power the lamp, much like the recharging unit for an electric toothbrush. An added feature users will appreciate: The light comes on only when water is flowing through the unit, so the treated water is not warmed by the light.

Can ultraviolet light make the water radioactive?
No. While the water in the eSpring Water Purifier is exposed to ultraviolet light, ultraviolet light is not radioactive. Therefore, it is impossible for the water to become radioactive.

Does the eSpring UV Water Purifier change the taste of water?
The taste of water depends on what’s in the water. The eSpring UV Water Purifier will effectively reduce many impurities, like chlorine, that affect taste and odor, and will improve the clarity of water.

Where is this eSpring unit installed?
This is a Below Counter unit. It is designed to be installed under the sink and connected to a dedicated designer faucet (included with this unit). An Above Counter model (10-0188, 11-0188C), designed to attach to your existing faucet, is also available.

I'm not mechanically inclined, so I’m not sure I could install the unit myself. How difficult is installation?
This Below Counter model has a dedicated faucet that you can insert in any available opening in your sink, such as an opening for a soap dispenser. Installation requires a connection to your cold water pipe under the sink and you may feel more comfortable having a professional plumber do the work. The eSpring UV Water Purifier also requires an outlet with continuous power.

How will I know when it’s time to change the filter?
You'll know just by looking at the LED display on the unit. It shows you at a glance the filter's remaining life on an indicator that resembles a car’s gas gauge. When it is time to change the filter, the unit beeps and the display flashes “replace cartridge.”

Is the filter hard to change?
No. The patented, easily replaceable eSpring replacement filter screws in like a light bulb and lasts for 1,320 gallons or one year, whichever comes first. And the eSpring monitor automatically resets itself when the filter is replaced. There is simply nothing else this easy out there.

I’ve just replaced the cartridge in my eSpring UV Water Purifier, but the system is still beeping. How can I get it to stop?
If your system continues to beep or makes a constant tone after you have replaced the cartridge, it’s likely that the top and cartridge are not aligned correctly. Remove the top shroud (display/cover) and new cartridge again. Reinsert the cartridge – first thread it and then turn it all the way to the right to tighten it. Align the top shroud properly. The electric cord and tubing should be seated correctly inside it. When it’s aligned, push it down to seat it. If it’s correctly seated, there should be no gap between the top shroud and the base housing. Once the cartridge has been replaced correctly, your system should operate properly for another year or 1,320 gallons of water, whichever comes first.

I have the Ice Maker Hookup Kit attached to my below counter eSpring UV Water Purifier. How do I flush my new filter after a change with this setup?
You will first need to disconnect the line from the refrigerator at the tee. Then flush your cartridge into a bucket, as outlined in the instruction manual, before reconnecting.

Does the eSpring Carbon Water Treatment System reduce pharmaceutical byproducts?
eSpring has been third-party verified to reduce two pharmaceuticals that have been detected at low levels in drinking water supplies. These pharmaceuticals are:
  • Atenolol, a prescription medication used to treat high blood pressure and prevent chest pains. It is in a class of medications called beta blockers.
  • Ethinyl estradiol (17-alpha-ethinyl estradiol), or EE2, an estrogen used in oral contraceptives and for the treatment of menopausal and post-menopausal symptoms. It is also a suspected endocrine disrupting compound (EDC), which means that it may mimic natural hormones in humans and wildlife.

What position should the auxiliary faucet be in when I’m changing the eSpring replacement filter or during the flushing process?
The faucet must be in the “on” position with the water supply off.

After replacing the filter in my eSpring UV Water Purifier, how tight does the collar ring need to be to maintain a watertight seal?
The collar ring holds the filter bracket in place and only needs to be threaded until it stops. Threading the collar ring into position doesn't require a great deal of force. After installing a new cartridge, the collar ring should spin freely on the threads until it reaches its first stop. Even though the collar ring may feel slightly loose to the touch, this is as tight as it needs to be to hold the bracket in place, which will provide a watertight seal. Over-tightening the collar ring may damage your eSpring Water Purifier and impair its ability to hold the bracket in position and maintain a complete, watertight seal.

What’s the latest superiority claim for eSpring?
It’s as follows:
eSpring is the world’s largest-selling brand of kitchen water treatment systems.*

*Based on a Verify Markets study of 2011 global sales.

Will the carbon in the filter cartridge reduce all impurities?
No. Activated carbon readily adsorbs (causes to stick to its surface) organic carbon-based compounds, but it doesn’t have an equivalent reduction capacity for inorganic compounds such as iron, nitrates, hardness minerals (such as calcium and magnesium), or soluble heavy metals like chromium or cadmium.

What inorganic compounds will the eSpring carbon filter reduce?
It’s possible for a well-designed carbon filter to reduce certain inorganic impurities. The eSpring carbon-block filter has been certified for the reduction of lead, mercury, and radon and its decay products.

How does the activated carbon-block filter work?
Carbon molecules tend to attract other carbon molecules. Most health-effect impurities – pesticides and their byproducts, VOCs and THMs, for example – contain carbon molecules. The eSpring carbon-block filter is “activated” carbon, processed to create pores in the carbon that increase its surface area. This increased surface area increases the ability of the eSpring carbon filter to attract and “trap” carbon-based impurities as water passes through the block. Since the surface area of the pores is limited, the carbon filter has a limited trapping capacity. That's why the filter must be replaced every year.
