Frequently Asked Questions
Have there been changes to the formula, color, or fragrance?
No, Legacy of Clean® Tri-Zyme® Detergent Booster is made with the same great formula, color, and fragrance.
What can cause the detergent to clump or not dissolve properly?
If you add your laundry to the washing machine before adding your detergent, or if you tightly pack your laundry into the machine, pockets can be formed that keep the detergent from proper contact with water. To avoid this issue, start filling your washing machine with water, add your detergent, then add your laundry last.
What do enzymes do?
Enzymes are natural, biodegradable molecules that work to break up specific stain groups. For example, in Legacy of Clean® products, we use one enzyme that naturally breaks up protein stains like blood, egg, or baby formula. Another enzyme we use naturally breaks up starch stains like rice, pasta, or pudding. Once the stains have been broken up, they can easily be washed away.
Many products claim to be safe and “green.” What proof do you have?
We have partnered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice program. Many of our formulas and ingredients have already been reviewed by the EPA and third-party accreditation contractors to meet their goals for safety.
We’re also a participant in the A.I.S.E. (International Association for Soaps, Detergents, and Maintenance Products) Charter for Sustainable Cleaning. As a participant, we voluntarily commit to follow this industry initiative for continual improvement in sustainability. Each phase of the product’s life cycle (raw material selection, chemical safety, resource use, occupational health and safety, and advice to customers on how best to use the products) is assessed, reviewed, and externally verified. The goal? Being a trendsetter and role model for continual improvement in sustainability for the entire cleaning products industry.
Is this product safe for septic systems?
Yes, all Legacy of Clean® products are septic safe. They won't cause sludge to form or disrupt the natural bacteria that keeps your septic system working.
Is this product safe for HE (high efficiency) washers?
Yes, all Legacy of Clean® products are safe to use in HE washers.
Can the inside of a washing machine ever get dirty?
Some ingredients used by other detergent manufacturers can build up inside a washing machine. This can especially be a concern at public laundromats. Legacy of Clean® detergents don’t leave any residue on your clothes or in your washer. So every time you wash your clothes with Legacy of Clean® detergents, you’re cleaning your washer!
How can I clean the inside of a washing machine?
It’s easy. Use two scoops of Legacy of Clean® Concentrated All Fabric Bleach. Set the temperature to hot and the load size to large. Run the complete wash cycle. This is especially important at public laundromats.
There’s a smell coming from the inside of my HE washing machine. Is it from Legacy of Clean®?
No. Dirty water can sit in the bottom of an HE washer between cycles. So even if you’re using Legacy of Clean® products, it would be a good idea to clean your washer once a month using All Fabric Bleach.
